Joining forces to clean up town

Residents in a Kidderminster street were visited by council and housing officials last week in a bid to curb problems of fly-tipping in a neighbouring park.

Wyre Forest District Council enforcement officers joined neighbourhood officers and wardens from The Community Housing Group (TCHG)  to remind residents in Usmere Road about the penalties for fly-tipping rubbish. 

They visited residents whose gardens back on to Springfield Park to explain the problems caused by rubbish being thrown over fences.

TCHG cleared away rubbish that had been dumped in the park and then hand-delivered letters to residents reminding them of their obligations.

Council enforcement officers accompanied them to raise awareness of the potential fines and sanctions that could be imposed on anyone found to be fly-tipping.

Director of Community Well-being and Environment at Wyre Forest District Council Linda Draycott said: “This is a great example of partnership working – organisations coming together to nip problems in the bud and make the district a much better place for everyone.”
