Textile designs and how they reflect changes in the fashion industry will be focus of the first of a series of talks organised by Bewdley Museum.

Georgia Jacobs will be at the Guildhall in Bewdley on Wednesday 14 June talking all things fashion and textiles between 7pm and 9pm.  She will be looking at textile samples and pattern designs as well as printing techniques and methods of decorating textiles.

‘Textile decoration, fashion and style’ is the first in a programme of talks.  Others feature a look at the geology of the area and surveying and how metric measurements have evolved. The talks cost £5 per person and include refreshments. Details are available on the Museum’s website www.bewdleymuseum.co.uk/whats-on/talks.

The museum is also taking part in tours of the town.  There are four coming up in June.  Visitors can find out about the trades of Bewdley and St Anne’s Church on Thursday 8 June.  The Hostelries and Brewery Walk is approximately a mile long but takes two hours to visit some of the existing and former pubs and beer houses.  A taste of the guest ales is also included during a stop at the brewery. You can join in on Saturday 10 June.  There are two tours based at the museum, a guide will take you around the award winning attraction on Wednesday 14 June.  The tour on Sunday 25 June includes a look behind the scenes at the museum’s brass foundry. All tours conclude with cream tea at the museum.  Tour costs start at £4.50 (cream tea is extra). Details are available on the Museum’s website www.bewdleymuseum.co.uk/whats-on/guided-tours.

Alison Bakr, Bewdley Museum manager said:

“The museum is in the heart of the town and we love being able to provide a focus for events.  The talks programme is a new venture for us, so we hope people come along and support it.  The tours are a great way to find out a lot about this beautiful town and its history which makes it the wonderful place it is today. “
