Around 200 properties in Kidderminster received a delayed bin collection this week, due to a mechanical fault with one of Wyre Forest District Council’s bin lorries.

The council put immediate measures in place to clear the backlog of rubbish from around 200 properties in the Clensmore area of Kidderminster when the problem arose on Wednesday.

Cabinet Member for Operational Services Councillor Rebecca Vale said: “We pride ourselves on an efficient and valuable refuse service.

“Unfortunately a mechanical problem with one of the refuse vehicles meant we were unable to collect bins from around 200 properties in the Clensmore area of Kidderminster on Wednesday.

“However we were able to complete all collections by 4:30pm the following day.

“I’m sorry we were unable to complete our usual round on that day but I’m satisfied with the team’s response in catching up so quickly the following day.”

Wyre Forest District Council’s refuse operation visits 46,447 properties in the district each week, at an average cost to the council tax payer of just 73p a week per household.
