Voters urged to comment on polling place review
01 September 2017Voters are being invited to comment on proposals to make St Michael’s Scout headquarters in Mitton Close the designated polling place for part of the Mitton ward in Stourport.
At the local elections in May and the General Election in June, it was not possible to use the designated polling place at St Wulstan’s Community Centre in Vale Road because it was awaiting repairs to its roof. Now a planning application has been lodged that could see the centre converted into flats.
Voting in the ward successfully switched to St Michael’s Scout HQ which is a short distance away.
With uncertainty surrounding the future availability of the community centre for elections, the council has launched a review to give local people a chance to comment on where polling takes place in the ward in future elections. The consultation paper proposes that St Michael’s Scout HQ should now be formally designated as the polling place instead.
