Council wins school grounds maintenance contract

An independent Wolverley school has appointed Wyre Forest District Council to keep its grounds in tip top condition for the next three years.

Workers from the council’s commercial arm The Depot have been tending the grounds of Heathfield Knoll School and First Steps Day Nursery since 2000.

And this week the school has awarded the council a new three year contract to continue the work from 2018-2021.

Headteacher Lawrence Collins said: “Wyre Forest District Council does outstanding work in our grounds. Work carried out on a regular basis includes the grass cutting of all grounds along with the marking out of the sports field for individual sports.

“I cannot fault the staff that attend our site, they are both polite and professional and the site is always left clean and tidy.”

Cabinet member for Operational Services Councillor Rebecca Vale said: “We are very proud of our professional workforce who not only do a great job keeping the district clean and looking good but are also helping to bring in additional income.

“Income from our commercial activity such as this is reinvested in services that benefit all who live, work and visit Wyre Forest. I’m delighted we have won this new contract. It highlights our reputation for providing service and expertise you can trust.”
