Gardeners in Wyre Forest can rejoice as the annual garden waste collection service restarts on Monday 5 March!

To celebrate the start of the collection service the council is offering an £8 discount on vehicle MOT’s for current and new garden waste customers. Existing garden waste customers and people who sign up for brown bin collections before Saturday 30 June will pay just £30 for an independent MOT from the council’s team of qualified mechanics.

Residents’ fortnightly collections will begin on Monday 5 March for those that are week 1 and Monday 12 March for week 2. The subscription will run until the end of November for week 1 customers and the start of December for week 2 customers.

Green-fingered residents who haven’t yet signed up for a Garden Waste collection can do so throughout 2018. The service costs £46.50 for the year, payable by annual direct debit, with a £20 signup fee for new customers.

Collections provide a hassle-free way of getting rid of garden waste. This includes grass cuttings, hedge and shrub clippings, weeds, cut flowers, leaves, twigs and bark.

Councillor Rebecca Vale, Cabinet Member for Operational Services, said: “The garden waste service has become more and more popular with residents.

“Having a Garden Waste collection can save you time, money and the inconvenience of taking your garden waste to the tip – you will also do your bit for the environment.”

Income generated from both garden waste and MOT’s will be invested into front-line council services.
