Celebrities to unite against hate crime

Popular public figures including a Paralympian, a radio show host and former “The Apprentice” candidate are taking to the stage to speak out against hate crime this month.

The Hate Crime event is organised by North Worcestershire Hate Incident Partnership in partnership with Wyre Forest District Council. It will be taking place at the Parkside Suite, Bromsgrove on Friday 19 October between 10am and 1pm.

Star speakers at the event include local Paralympic Gold Medallist Claire Cashmore MBE, radio broadcaster host Ray Khan and “The Apprentice” 2017 candidate Bushra Shaikh.

Councillor Juliet Smith, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Community Protection at Wyre Forest District Council said: “It’s great to see so many well-known celebrities speaking out against hate crime. This event is a great platform to raise awareness about discrimination and it demonstrates how people from different backgrounds can collectively tackle it.”

Nadia Rashid, Chair of the North Worcestershire Hate Incident Partnership said: “This is a really positive event to bring together the communities in North Worcestershire to celebrate perceived difference and break down the barriers associated with them. It would be great to have as much community support as possible to recognise such a positive event.”
