Wyre Forest District Council has appointed Construction and Fit Out Solutions (CAFOS) of Birmingham to construct nine new industrial units on land off Silverwoods Way.

The site, next to the Hoobrook Enterprise Centre, has been vacant since the construction of the Hoobrook Link Road (Silverwoods Way). The site was previously occupied by Frenco car parts and accessories.

The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement earlier this week that Bromsgrove-based firm Barton Firtop is also planning to build a 60,000 sq ft plant for the expansion of its filtration products business on the Silverwoods site.

Mike Parker, Corporate Director: Economic Prosperity & Place at Wyre Forest District Council, said: “The council continues to invest in new space to enable our businesses to grow and the new units it has planned as an extension to the popular Hoobrook Enterprise Centre will complement the recent announcement of the expansion of the business start up and incubator space at Forest House on the Hoo Farm Industrial Estate.Hoobrook Link Road

“The development will comprise nine new units of 600 sq ft each which will be available to let to businesses; the existing Hoobrook Enterprise Centre next door is currently fully let and we know that there is strong demand in the district for units of this size. I’m very pleased that we’ve been able to award the contract to CAFOS and expect the work to start on site shortly.”

He added:“ It was really great to hear the news about Barton Firtop coming to Silverwoods, this site has always been earmarked as a mixed use development site and this will be a fantastic employment use to add to the other uses on the site.

“It will no doubt be an opportunity for the company to fast track the planning process by using the Local Development Order which the council renewed for the third time last year.”

The council’s Cabinet agreed the principle of constructing new industrial units at the site at its meeting on 23 May 2017.

Any business interested in letting any of the units should contact Victoria Bendall on 01562 732703.
