Community groups in Wyre Forest are being encouraged to take part in two upcoming Volunteer and Skills Fairs in 2019.

More than 40 charities and community groups promoted a range of unique voluntary positions at Wyre Forest District Council’s first volunteering event last September.

The event attracted around 260 people who came to find out about a whole host of volunteering and skill-building opportunities.

Building on the success of last year’s volunteer fair, Wyre Forest District Council has partnered with Kidderminster College and the Jobcentre to run two more events this year.

Kidderminster Town Hall is hosting the first fair on Thursday 16 May 2019, and the second will take place at Stourport Civic Hall on Thursday 17 October 2019. Both fairs will start at 10am and finish at 2pm and for the first time will also include a special CV skills workshop.

Councillor Ian Hardiman, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Wellbeing said: “Volunteers are the backbone of many community groups in Wyre Forest, which is why we want organisations to take a stall and present their various opportunities for residents.

“Volunteering is a great way for people to make new friends and connections while also giving something back to their local community.”

If any local organisations would like to get involved by taking a stall, simply apply online at www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/volunteerfair before Friday 15 March 2019.
