Volunteer and Skills Fair returns to Kidderminster

Hundreds of local volunteering opportunities will be showcased at a Volunteer and Skills Fair taking place at Kidderminster Town Hall this month.

Kidderminster Town Hall is hosting the fair on Thursday 16 May 2019, and a second fair will take place at Stourport Civic Hall on Thursday 17 October 2019. Both fairs will start at 10am and finish at 2pm. Representatives from more than 30 charities, support groups and other organisations will be present to talk to people about roles they have on offer.

These voluntary positions vary from providing admin support,  litter-picking, assisting people with household tasks, to helping run events and activities and much more.

The event is being run by oursleves in partnership with Kidderminster College and the Jobcentre.

Volunteering is a potential route into paid employment and those looking for work will be able to take part in Curriculum Vitae (CV) workshops, taking place at 10.30am and 12.30pm.

There will also be a Moodmaster taster session from 11.45am until 12.15pm. Moodmaster is a 12 week course where you can learn tools and techniques which improve your mental wellbeing in a fun and welcoming setting.

Wyre Forest District Council’s health and sustainability officer Elaine Halford-Bishop said: “Come along to our fairs to find out about the various volunteering opportunities we currently have in Wyre forest.

“Volunteers are the backbone of many community groups in Wyre Forest and we appreciate every single hour of voluntary work that takes place.

“If you have a few hours spare each month, this could be your opportunity to get out, meet new friends and make a real difference. These events also give you the chance to gain experience and build your CV and also make new friends and professional connections.
