Making Wyre Forest a safe, clean and green living environment looks set to be one of the district council’s key priorities for the next four years.

Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet is discussing the authority’s proposed Corporate Plan for 2019-23 at its meeting on Wednesday 18 September.  The plan sets out the council’s vision and priorities for the district over the next four years. The priorities are, ‘A safe, clean and green living environment’, ‘supporting a successful local economy’ and ‘good quality and affordable homes for all’.

The Corporate Plan has been produced following a public consultation. More than 1700 responded to a questionnaire asking for views on what they thought the council should be focussing its energies on. Focus groups with businesses and other sectors of the community also took place. The feedback from all of these was used to form the Corporate Plan.

Council Leader, Councillor Graham Ballinger, said:

“Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey or be part of a focus group. We set up a cross-party panel to work on the corporate plan and this involved considering the feedback from our consultations and producing recommendations on the Corporate Plan. The plan makes sure we are focused on delivering what matters and sets out the key ways we will deliver our vision for the district.”

The Cabinet will also be discussing its approach to the medium term financial strategy.

Councillor Ballinger added,

“Demands on local government are continuing to grow but our funding is being reduced. We  recognise, with less Government funding than in the past, the Council will not be able to continue doing everything it has done in the past. That’s why we’re keen to help communities build their own resilience.  “

If the Cabinet recommends Council adopts the Corporate Plan, it will be discussed at its meeting on Wednesday 25 September.
