Private landlords are being invited to a special forum to help keep them up to date with the latest changes to legislation which affect renting out properties.  They will also be offered advice on grant schemes available to them and can find out about a new Social Lettings Agency.

The forum has been organised by Wyre Forest District Council.  Guest speakers include a representative from the National Landlord Association, who will be giving a presentation on the proposed changes to eviction notices. There will be a talk on the new energy efficiency regulations which come into force in April and information on the funding available to meet the new standards.

Details of a new Social Lettings Agency which is due to be launched will be explained. The ReWyre Lettings Agency is looking to work with landlords to provide affordable accommodation in the private rented sector to low income households. The agency will be offering a range of options and incentives to landlords. This could include leasing properties with a guaranteed monthly income for two years, whether their property is occupied or not.

Councillor Nicky Martin, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Health, Wellbeing and Democratic Services will be opening the event. She said:

“This is a great opportunity to build stronger relationships with landlords in the area.  We recognise the important contribution they make to housing and we want to keep them up to date with all the latest developments in the sector. The forum will also enable us to showcase the work we’re doing to improve the private rented sector.”

The Private Landlords’ Forum is being held on Thursday 27 February in the Council Chamber, Wyre Forest House, Finepoint Way, Kidderminster. The event gets underway at 1.30pm with registration and light refreshments. It runs until 4.30pm.

Any landlord or letting agency representative who would like to attend the forum should email rewyrelettings@wyreforestdc.gov.uk or call 01562 732725.
