Residents who have received a poll card for this May’s elections do NOT need to register again for the General Election.  That is the message being given by Wyre Forest District Council.

Anyone who currently appears on the Register of Electors, and whose details have not changed, does not have to re-register to have a say on Thursday 8 June.

Poll cards have now been delivered to all people who are registered to vote in the local elections on Thursday 4 May. Anyone who has not received a poll card but believes that they are registered to vote should email the elections team at electoral@wyreforestdc.gov.uk or call 01562 732733.

The council is urging people to use their vote on both Thursday 4 May and Thursday 8 June.  It is important that people check their poll card carefully to find out where their polling station is located.  There have been three changes to polling stations from the elections last year. St Michaels Scout HQ in Mitton Close, Stourport is being used instead of St Wulstan’s Community Centre and the LQ Arena in Windermere Way is being used insead of Stourport High School & VIth Form Centre. In Offmore, the Evangelical Church in Gray Close is being used instead of the Community Centre.

The vast majority of postal voters do not have to reapply for a postal vote.  Unless someone registered for a postal vote for the elections on Thursday 4 May only, they will not need to apply again for the General Election.

Ian Miller, Electoral Registration Officer for Wyre Forest, said:

“We want as many people as possible to have their say on both Thursday 4 May and Thursday 8 June.  If you’re registered to vote for the elections on 4 May, you will be on the Electoral Register for the General Election. The deadline for registering to vote in the General Election is Monday 22 May.  If you have moved house very recently you will need to re-register, and anyone who turns 18 on or before  8 June can also register.”

Applications to register to vote in the General Election can be made online by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
