Visit Bewdley Museum for a Magical Medieval Festival

Step back in time and mingle with knights, ladies and squires at Bewdley Museum’s medieval festival next month.

The free to enter event will be staged in the museum and adjoining Jubilee Gardens between 10am and 4pm on Sunday 10 September, as part of Bewdley Heritage Festival.

With promises to whisk you back to the 14^th Century with re-enactments of the pageantry, excitement and action of medieval combat, this is an event not to be missed.

There will be fully armoured knights displaying chivalry and courage and lots of opportunities to join in with dancing, squire training, brass rubbing and archery. Medieval musicians will also be adding to the atmosphere.

Admission is free but there is a small charge for some of the activities.

Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Community Protection Councillor Juliet Smith said:

“This promises to be another fabulous event at the museum, a magical, colourful, vibrant and informative step back in time for the whole family.  Make a note of the date and come and see medieval Bewdley brought back to life for a day.”

There will be lots happening in the town throughout the weekend of Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 September for the town’s first Heritage Festival, starting with a Heritage Market in Severnside North on Saturday morning and finishing with a “son et lumiere” performance on the banks of the River Severn on Sunday evening.

The Heritage Festival is jointly organised by local organisations including Bewdley Town Council, Bewdley Museum, Wyre Community Land Trust, Bewdley Civic Society, Bewdley Choral Society and Bewdley Rowing Club, to celebrate the town’s heritage and culture.
