At its meeting on Tuesday 7 February, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet, will be asked to agree the way forward to progress comprehensive regeneration plans for the Kidderminster Eastern Gateway area, now known as Lion Fields.

Members will specifically decide on the approach for proposals for ‘Parcel 1’ of Lion Fields, which forms part of the overall Kidderminster Eastern Gateway Development Framework and includes the former Glades Leisure Centre site.

Cllr Ian Hardiman, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Regeneration said

“Following Member engagement and public consultation exercises, and input from the Council’s Overview & Scrutiny Committee, the Council’s Cabinet agreed last July that the preferred development option for Lion Fields should be a mixed use scheme.  This includes a multi-screen cinema complex with restaurant/café units and a multi-storey car park with the remainder of the scheme including residential accommodation, retail units and a conversion of the former Magistrates Court into creative workspace.”

During October and November 2016, the Council approached developers to measure interest in bringing forward Parcel 1.. There was a strong response from developers, with thirteen expressions of interest received. This gives the Council confidence that there is interest from developers in delivering a cinema and leisure hub on this site and that the Council’s ambitions can be achieved”
