Get ready for a packed programme of entertainment in Wyre Forest in the run up to Christmas.

The fun kicks off with the Christmas Lights switch on taking place outside Kidderminster Town Hall on Saturday 18 November.  The entertainment starts at 2pm.  There will be live music and entertainment from BBC Hereford & Worcester Roadshow, appearances by Father Christmas and a lantern parade. The lights will be switched on at 5.15pm by Father Christmas, Cllr Nicky Gale (Mayor of Kidderminster) and Charlie Dixon from Birchen Coppice Primary School. Charlie has won this year’s Christmas card competition organised by the Mayor of Kidderminster. This year’s event has been funded by Kidderminster Town Council and organised in partnership with Wyre Forest District Council.

The Christmas magic continues in Stourport-on-Severn with the Christmas Lights switch on taking place outside the Civic Centre on Friday 24 November. The festivities start at 6pm with the Three Kings Parade procession around the town led by Stourport Scout and Guide Band. The lights will be switched on at 6.45pm by Cllr Vi Higgs (Mayor of Stourport) with Malcolm Boyden from BBC Hereford & Worcester and the Carnival Queen.

In Bewdley on Saturday 2 December there will be a Victorian Christmas Market in Load Street with a wide array of Christmas treats and gifts. Market goers can also visit Bewdley Museum from 10am to 5pm with the lights being switched on by Father Christmas and Cllr Anne Coleman (Mayor of Bewdley) at 5.30pm. A free park and ride service will operate from Bewdley High School throughout the day.

Other events happening in the district during the festive period include, ‘The Snow Queen’, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ and a chance to meet Father Christmas. ‘The Snow Queen’ is coming to the Stourport Civic Centre on Thursday 30 November at 1pm and Friday 1 November at 1pm and 7pm. Tickets for the performance are £6 per person and can be purchased by ringing 07821 762 649.

On Sunday 3 December, Bewdley Museum hosts the Tiger Touring Theatre and their pantomime performance of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. The funny and fast-paced show kicks off at 6pm featuring a variety of singing, dancing, music and laughter. Tickets for ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ are £6 per person or £22 for a family ticket and can be purchased by ringing 0845 607 7819 or online at www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/bookings.

Music lovers can rock around the Christmas tree at Kidderminster Town Hall on Friday 15 December from 7.30pm with ‘The Quo Experience’. The tribute band will give rockers of all ages an experience of “Britain’s biggest singles chart band of all time”. Tickets for ‘The Quo Experience’ are £16 per person and can be purchased from the Box Office on 01562 732158 or online at www.seetickets.com.

Bewdley Museum hosts a Christmas Grotto weekend and craft fair on 16 and 17 December from 10am till 4pm. There will also be an opportunity to meet Father Christmas from 12pm to 4pm. Tickets for admission are £5 per person which also includes a gift.

Wyre Forest District Council is also offering free car parking in all council-owned car parks after 4pm.  The offer will run from Saturday 18 November 2017 right through until Sunday 31 December 2017.
