Celebrate Harvest in Bewdley

Bewdley’s popular Harvest Fair is returning to the town on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 October. 

Bewdley Museum and the Jubilee Gardens will be hosting free live music over the weekend.   Bewdley musician, Bryn Teeling, will be performing music inspired by The Beatles on Saturday 7 October from 12.30pm. Sunday 8 October will see The Worcester Ukulele Band playing from  12.30pm.

The Bewdley Apple Pie Bake Off is back too. On Sunday 8 October bakers can enter the pies for the chance of winning a fruit and veg hamper donated by Bewdley Farm Shop.  Pies needs to be taken to the Sawyard by noon with judging at 12.30pm.

Children can take part in harvest themed craft activities which are on offer between 11am and 3.30pm all weekend at the museum (£4 per person).  There is also a traditional apple hunt around the museum and gardens.  It costs £2 per person and there is a prize for everyone who completes it.

There will also be a variety of arts and crafts stalls in the museum, including the resident craft artists ‘Made in the Museum.’ Anyone who would like a stall at the harvest fair can email amy.smith@wyreforestdc.gov.uk.

Visitors can also take a walking tour of Bewdley Hostelries and Bewdley Brewery from 1pm on Saturday 7 October. It starts from the museum’s front entrance and last around 2 hours. The tour takes in some of the 63 former and existing pubs and beer houses ending up at Bewdley Brewery where there is a chance to try their guest beers.  The tours costs £4.50 per person.

Wyre Forest Gallery at the museum is hosting the Bewdley Festival Exhibition.  This year it features works by artist Keith Turley and runs until Sunday 29 October.  There will be opportunities to meet Keith in the gallery. Times and dates are available at www.bewdleymuseum.co.uk/whatson

Councillor Juliet Smith, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Community Protection said:

“There is something for everyone to join in with at the Harvest Fair. Bewdley will be buzzing over the weekend and most definitely worth a visit.  The museum is free to enter and you can enjoy live music and a browse around the exhibition and stalls and there are some paid for activities too.  It promises to be a great way to celebrate the change in the seasons.”

Bewdley’s Soup Trail is also returning on Saturday 7 October with many local eateries involved including the museum’s, Shambles Cafe .Tickets will be available from Bewdley Farm Shop and The Tourist Information Centre from Saturday 30 September. There will be limited tickets available with a small amount available on the day. A local produce market will be along Severnside South both days.
