Shoppers can take advantage of free parking at all Wyre Forest District Council car parks after 4pm during the festive period.

The ‘free Christmas parking after 4pm’ offer will run from Saturday 17 November 2018 until Sunday 6 January 2019.

Festivities begin less than a week later on Friday 23 November with the first of the district’s Christmas light switch-ons taking place in Stourport. Kidderminster’s lights switch-on (organised by Wyre Forest District Council in partnership with Kidderminster Town Council) will follow on Saturday 24 November and Bewdley’s (organised by Bewdley Town Council) on Saturday 1 December.

Cabinet Member for Operational Services Councillor Rebecca Vale said: “We are delighted to once again offer residents and shoppers in Wyre Forest free parking after 4pm.

“Our aim is to encourage residents to shop locally and also attract shoppers in from outside Wyre Forest. This is a great opportunity for people to take advantage of shops being open later.

“There’s a lot going on in the district over the festive season and I hope as many people as possible come along and join in.”

The offer applies only to car parks owned by Wyre Forest District Council. The offer is not available at Weaver’s Wharf car park in Kidderminster, which is privately owned.

Signs will be going up at the entrances to all council car parks and will also be displayed at all ticket machines. Motorists – including those using the Just Park app - will not need to pay for parking beyond 4pm during the period.
