Neighbourhood area set to be approved

Cookley and Caunsall looks set to be designated as a neighbourhood area next week.

Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet is meeting on Wednesday 19 September. It will be discussing Wolverley and Cookley Parish Council’s application to designate the Cookley and Caunsall area of the parish as a neighbourhood area. It needs to do this in order to produce a Neighbourhood Plan for that area of the parish.

The meeting follows a public consultation and the application was also discussed by the Council’s Overview and Scrutiny committee last week (Thursday 6 September). It has recommended to Cabinet to approve the Neighbourhood Plan area designation for the purposes of Neighbourhood Development Planning.

Councillor Ian Hardiman, Cabinet Member for Housing, Health and Wellbeing said:

“Getting an area designated is the first stage of the neighbourhood planning process. If Wolverley and Cookley Parish Council’s application is approved it can then start working on its Neighbourhood Plan. This sets out how local residents would like the area to develop in the future. There will be plenty of opportunities for residents to get involved with the neighbourhood plan and shaping the future of the area.”
