The brand new service launched today, gives customers a hassle free way to dispose of unwanted household or garden waste. Hiring a Jumbo Bin (1100 litre) costs £79 with flexible collection dates ranging from 5 to 21 days.

There are two types of bin, one for general household waste and the other for garden waste. In the household waste bin customers can dispose of plastics, polythene, packaging and more. Alternatively, the garden waste bin is used for grass cuttings, hedge and shrub clippings, weeds, cut flowers, leaves, twigs and bark. All garden waste collected is turned into usable soil conditioner rather than going to landfill.

Councillor Rebecca Vale, Cabinet Member for Operational Services said: “It’s great that we are delivering the Jumbo Bin service. Going to the tip is a real chore; I am pleased that we are able to offer residents an alternative way to dispose of household or garden waste which is economical and convenient. All income generated by the Jumbo Bin service will be used to support front-line council services.

“A big thank you also goes to West Midlands Safari Park for allowing us to take pictures with their magnificent elephants; Five, Sutton and Latabe.”
