A planning application to convert a former World War 2 underground military complex near Kidderminster into a bonded warehouse and wine store is set to be determined in August.

Planning application reference number 19/0242/Full to convert the former Drakelow Tunnels in Kingsford Lane, was due to be discussed by Wyre Forest District Council’s planning committee on Tuesday 9 July.

However, WFDC’s development manager Paul Round decided to defer a decision after additional information was submitted by the applicants, following the publication of the Planning Committee Agenda.

He said: “The applicants have raised a number of technical and legal questions which need to be fully explored and answered before members are asked to make a decision on the application.

“This application will not now be considered by the planning committee on 9 July and is likely to be discussed and considered at its next meeting on Tuesday 13 August.”
