Crown House demolition date announced

The demolition of Crown House in Kidderminster is set to begin on Monday 17 June 2019.

In February 2019, the district council announced that a deal has been agreed with the tenant, Telereal Trillium, for the demolition of Crown House at no cost to the tax-payer.

Telereal Trillium has appointed Elford Demolition and Remediation Ltd of Wednesbury, West Midlands to undertake the work. It is expected to be completed in January 2020.

Demolition will begin with the removal of the podium followed by the seven storey tower block.

Councillor Fran Oborski MBE, cabinet member for economic regeneration, planning and capital investments at Wyre Forest District Council said: “I am delighted work to demolish Crown House will start this month with Telereal Trillium fully covering the cost. The demolition of this eye-sore from Kidderminster is another positive step forward for the town.

“We are working really hard alongside our partners to improve Kidderminster Town Centre with public realm works, the redevelopment of Lion Fields and opening up Worcester Street to traffic.

“I’m confident the demolition of Crown House will kick-start further opportunities to improve Kidderminster’s retail offer and revitalise the Bull Ring as a key gateway into the town.”
