The Chairman of Wyre Forest District Council Shazu Miah has paid tribute to Charles Talbot MBE who sadly passed away at the weekend.

Mr Talbot served on Kidderminster Borough and was Mayor in 1965-1966. The authority was disbanded when Wyre Forest District Council took over services in 1974.  Mr Talbot went on to serve as a councillor on Wyre Forest District Council for three years between 1976 and 1979.

Kidderminster was served by Charter Trustees from 1974 and Mr Talbot became the clerk to the trustees in 1982. The trustees supported the fight to secure a town council for Kidderminster, which was achieved in 2015. He will also be long remembered for his leading role in establishing the Carpet Museum in the town.

Chairman Shazu Miah said:

“It was with great sadness that we learned of Charles’s passing.  He had many friends here on the district council and will be sorely missed.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Jean and family and friends. They should take comfort from the years of dedication and public service he gave to the people of Kidderminster and Wyre Forest.”
