Wyre Forest District Council is showing its support for a community dog walk event which aims to get people ‘walking and talking’.Big Community Dog Walk

Dogs and their owners are invited to the Reconnections Big Community Dog Walk at 10am on Saturday 9 November with the first arrivals receiving a free dog lead.

Meeting at Habberley Valley Nature Reserve Visitor Centre and Cafe, the walk will last up to 1 hour.

Reconnections, led by Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire, is a project which aims to tackle loneliness in over 50s across Worcestershire by raising awareness and bringing the community together.

Within Worcestershire up to 35,000 older people may experience loneliness and 11,500 of those are chronically lonely.

Councillor Nicky Martin, Cabinet Member for Housing, Health, Wellbeing and Democratic Services said: “We are pleased to support the Reconnections Big Community Dog Walk where dog walkers from across the district will have the chance to socialise with like-minded people in beautiful surroundings.”
