A showcase event celebrating the district’s unsung heroes comes to Kidderminster Town Hall on Thursday 26 March from 10am to 2pm.

Next month’s Volunteer and Skills Fair organised by Wyre Forest District Council, in partnership with Vestia, Kidderminster College and The Department for Work and Pensions, will give more than 30 community groups a platform to talk to people about a wide range of volunteering opportunities.

Local charities, support groups and other organisations who rely on the goodwill of volunteers will be promoting a number of exciting roles from maintaining the district’s canals, providing admin support, completing DIY projects and much more.

There will be a number of events going on throughout the day with The Wheelie Different Theatre Group opening the show with an uplifting song and the New Dementional choir performing at lunchtime. Prospects Services is also running a workshop giving people an opportunity to work on their CV.

Free food and refreshments are being supplied by Vestia.

Councillor Nicky Martin, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Health, Wellbeing and Democratic Services said: “Come along to our Volunteer and Skills Fair to find out about the various volunteering opportunities we currently have in the district.

“Volunteers are the backbone of many community groups, which is why we want to give them a platform to showcase all the amazing things they do.

“If you have a few hours spare each month, this could be your opportunity to get out, meet new friends, network and make a real difference.”
