Local Plan pre-submision consultation

Consultation ran 2 September 2019 - 14 October 2019

The Local Plan identifies where development sites for homes and business will be and the services and infrastructure needed to support them. We have made a few amendments to the Pre-Submission version of the Plan we consulted on at the end of last year.

This includes:

  • changes to the transport infrastructure
  • taking out the Yew Tree Walk site in Stourport
  • including land at Blakedown Railway station
  • adding an employment site off Zortech Avenue

All comments received will be submitted with the Local Plan to the Planning Inspectorate for examination in public. If you submitted a response to the last pre-submission consultation held in 2018 you will not have to do so again unless you want to add to them, withdraw them or make completely new comments.

The new Local Plan will replace the current Adopted Core Strategy, Site Allocations and Policies Local Plan and Kidderminster Central Area Action Plan in order to produce a single Local Plan for the district. Please see the current project plan for the most up to date timetable. The policies in the plan will be used to help make decisions on planning applications in the district.

If we don’t review and adopt an up-to-date Local Plan, development will still happen in our district. Decisions will be taken without local people having a say on setting local policies and where development will take place.

Consultation closes at 5pm on 14 October 2019. No late responses will be accepted.

What's this consultation about?

The Pre-Submission documentation is the final stage of plan making before the Local Plan is submitted to the Planning Inspectorate.

We have published the documentation for consultation which takes into account previous consultations along with the body of evidence that we have developed. It sets out the development requirements for the district and identifies the strategy to meet needs up to 2036 along with related policies.

We are now asking for your views on the documentation. Unlike previous consultations, we are required to ask specific questions which will give people an opportunity to comment on how the Local Plan has been prepared, whether its aims are achievable and whether the plan is based on a robust evidence base. The consultation accords with the Town and Country (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012, as set out in the Statement of Community Involvement.
